More than a thousand “No Kings” protests took place nationwide on Saturday, including one in Longview that drew hundreds to the Civic Circle to rally against the Trump Administration.
Protesters carried signs with slogans like “No Kings Since 1776,” “Release the Files,” “F*ck Facism,” and “Protect Your Rights.” The event also featured the growing trend of demonstrators wearing inflatable costumes.
Longview City Councilmember Kalei Lafave said she attended with a “Christ is King” sign and got into a verbal altercation with protesters.
In Everett, Washington Governor Bob Ferguson told the crowd, “We will never, ever, under any circumstances, bend the knee to this autocrat.” He pledged to defend democracy and public health.
Seattle’s march drew about 90,000 people, while Portland saw another 40,000 take to the streets.
