August 25, 2025Lois Harris: April 18, 1939 — August 15, 2025
LONGVIEW- Lois Harris passed away peacefully August 15th 2025 in Longview, Wa. Lois was born April 18th, 1939 in Jackson County, North Carolina to Anzel and Mary (Melton) Mathis. She married the love of her life Hayward Harris (Ashe) January 6th 1957 in Pickens County, South Carolina they were married just a few days shy of 65 years when Hayward passed in 2021. Lois and Hayward had one child while still living in North Carolina, then moving to the Castle Rock area in 1959 and having 2 more children. Lois was a housewife and stay at home mom all her life, she loved to garden, canning everything she grew, she also loved tending to many outdoor plants and flowers, but her biggest passion was her family, she loved her kids, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, she felt so much enjoyment having so many generations come through her house and would do anything for her family. She was also an amazing cook. Biscuits and gravy being a very popular meal amongst all that came through her doors, some will say she canned the best corn relish and pickled beans and made the best cake of cornbread to go with them!
Lois is survived by her 3 children, Harold, Darrell, and Frieda, 10 grandchildren, Karrie, Travis, Kim, Marshall, Lindsay, Blair, Cody, Tyler, Karley, and Aaron, 14 great grandchildren, Austin, Tristin, Riley, Parker, Kaleb, Colby, Haley, Mariah, Brody, Bentley, Piper, Bentley, Payton, and Wrenley and 6 great great grandchildren, Ryder, Karsyn, Saylor, Cash, Bowdy, and Wrenley, 1 brother, Herman Mathis and many nieces, nephews, and in laws.
She is preceded in death by her parents Anzel and Mary, her husband Hayward, 3 daughters in law Cathy, Wendy, and Donna, 1 son in law, Paul, many siblings, Oma Lee, Dicie, Jamie, Junior, Jessie Mae, Betty Lee, JB, Willis, LH, Willie and Louella.
She was a very special lady to many people that loved her dearly. And, her presence and many phone calls to all will be missed tremendously.
A graveside service will be held at Whittle~Hubbard Cemetery located at 315 Cemetery Road, Castle Rock, Wa 98611 Friday September 19th 2025 at 11:00am, and a potluck fellowship to follow right after at the Pleasant Hill Grange located at 4741 Pleasant Hill Road, Kelso, Wa 98626. Anyone wishing to pay their respects is welcomed.
