Lower Columbia College and others around the area will participate in the Great Washington ShakeOut earthquake preparedness drill this morning at 10:15 a.m.

The college’s emergency notification system will announce the start of the drill, prompting participants to practice “Drop, Cover, and Hold On.”

Participants should drop to their hands and knees, take cover under a sturdy desk or table while protecting their head and neck, and hold on until the announcement ends.

The statewide drill is designed to help schools, businesses and households prepare for “The Big One.”
